I'm a sucker for Christmas songs. It's my favorite holiday as a Christian, even in a religious sense. Most say Easter, but I'ma Christams man. One of my favorite, maybe my very favorite, Christmas song is "O Holy Night." There is a lyric that says "Long lay the world in sin and darkness pining, 'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth." I just think that's a very beautiful thought.

Another lyric I like is in "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem." Where it says "Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light, The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight." Churchill gave a speech around Christmas 1941 where he remarked how much that lyric meant to him and made parallels to WW2.

"Oh Holy Night" is my Favorite hymn also.

 

I was drafted to sing that this year. Miraculously killed that high F (I think)

I was upset the arrangement left out the 3rd verse. It's my fave

Yes, I do not like the arrangements that do not include the full song. I sang "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" Sunday and "Mary Did You know" last night at our candle light service.

 

I've always found God Rest Ye Gentlemen a little out there.
