A few brave men started the "spam" raid. The shit storm would follow shortly afterward. Alot of good users got banned that day, we toast in their memory. When this forum gets huge, this will be a good thread to bump.
It pisses me off that those [uck fay]tards over there called it “spam”. They are too stupid to know the definition and difference.
I think it was more just a sorry excuse to ban than ignorance of the meaning. You think a site that tries to stay so high brow and accepting to all wouldn't stoop to such gestapo tactics.
I think you are correct. It is a desperate attempt to protect the site. Cut off communication, minimize the censored message as spam, outlaw the troublemakers. Maybe they will give up and we can go back to the way things were.
BTW, I fully expect that anybody banned would be welcomed back after all of this blows over. I believe they overestimate the chance that this will eventually blow over.
My disdain is for PJ, Bill, and Milo. I have no problem with Vader or GA. I fault Freak for refusing to do anything about the problem that had been simmering for a long time.
They'd be in error. They have no idea as to the ultimate plans for this site, each of which won't be so easily dismissed. Take it as you will.

Can you do anything there, or are you permanently blocked? As in... could you, say, remove your profile picture?
I don't want to further exacerbate the issue by double logging in; after all, that is what got faildozer banned. Are you just locked out of JTD, or have you made an alt?
Sounds like an IP ban. Possibly fixable with a history/cookies/cache flush and leaving your modem unplugged for a night. You'd have to confirm that the IP changed, though. And, also, using a dummy email account. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a username like "volrgreat34234" or some other well thought out name. But, the second you try to log back in as JTD, you'd probably get flagged and nuked. You can wait it out, see what happens, or resort to other attempts at peeking in on VN.
This is pretty much what I did. Dan Williams III probably has the highest post per deletion percentage of all time. I've posted roughly 10 times under that name and only 2 have managed to stay on that board for over 10 minutes. Edit: You can make that a perfect 10 out of 10 posts being deleted. The last two for asking if the spam was porn related. Edit #2: And I have been permabanned.
Here is the thing for me. The Board brought many hours of fun and entertainment. But over the years it turned into a Board run by Milo, PJ, and Bill. They constantly delete the post of or ban the best and brightest while leaving the post of folks like Sab, Ravenheart, BOP1, and utgibbs. This has lead to a dumbing down of the Board. Why would I return when the people responsible for bringing me the years of entertainment are here?
