... but on the other hand, it's 100% arbitrary and apparently they do it the other way in England.

Plus the American way lumps in punctuation with published works ("The Great Gatsby Comma? Is that like a sequel?") or direct input that isn't meant to include punctuation ("Type 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.' But don't type that period, I was just using proper end punctuation. 'Dog,' then press enter. No period. No comma either. Just 'dog.'").

Or how about this:

The tritest interview question is unquestionably "What is your greatest weakness?" (universally recommended)

The most trite interview question is unquestionably "What is your greatest weakness?". (actually conveys the separate meanings of quote and sentence, also tritest sounds weird)

That first one starts off so assured. What happened?
