Here's an observation, though probably not a unique one:

Really good to great coaches are fairly outcome-neutral. Win or lose, they are all about playing good football, better football, etc. After a big win or a big loss or anything in between, they sound about the same. Pruitt has that. Juxtapose that with Jones, who would be down after a loss like a beaten dog, spilling excuses or jubilant and thumping his chest after even fairly pedestrian wins.

Just an observation. Dedication to the quality and the details seems to pay bigger dividends than trying to figure out how to grift a win week to week.

 

Translation:

Banks: Tired of these dumbass uga fans over there barking like dogs. I want to go in and smash those [uck fay]ers in the nuts.

Pruitt: I like your style. Let's talk after the game.

 

Because his goal is a football championship, not a life championship.

I don’t think it’s a hard thing to explain. Applies outside of sports too. Jeremy Pruitt knows how to win. There’s a ton that goes into it and it’s not easy to do but he knows. So every day he works at it and the results each day help inform the next day’s work.

Butch had no idea how to win. He could probably spend 10 years with Saban and not get closer to knowing.

 

I never saw him coach a player 1 on 1. He spent the whole practice with his mic shouting and trying to motivate people like a clown. He was the worst practice coach I have ever seen.

 

I said it while he was still here: Butch and the fans that supported him were like a cargo cult. They tried to look and sound like what they thought winners sounded like while clearly lacking any real knowledge on how it all works. Meanwhile, Pruitt is working out supply lines and logistics.

 

He literally did nothing useful during a practice. It would be as helpful as an algebra teacher shouting slogans about letters of the alphabet.

 

This is sadly 100% true and a good comparison. I still can't believe he made it as long as he did being such a fraud. He is only on Bama's staff as a favor to Sexton. Saban could give 2 shits about him.
