Should the legal drinking age be lowered to 18?

I'm gonna go ahead and say i don't think females of any age should be allowed to drive.

 

The answer to the OP question is yes. If we are going to make an arbitrary age of adulthood, make it uniform. So either lower the alcohol (and pot in CO/OR) to 18 or raise voting, driving, sexual consent, military service/draft, etc to 21.

 

I don't disagree. It's the lack of consistency, like saying using age to restrict one thing is wrong but ok to restrict something else based on age, is the biggest issue.

There isn't a right to drive, only to Interstate travel.

No true right to vote, but thankfully we've moved to more freedom on the aspect of voting rights.

Only logical argument I have heard against lowering it to 18 is that our binge drinking culture wouldn't be able to handle it, and too many high schoolers would die. Lots of high school seniors are 18, which means high school parties are more easily supplied with alcohol (not that they aren't easily supplied already), and more kids are choking on their own vomit and what not.

While I can see that happening, I don't know if it's necessarily a bad thing. Allowing the population to cleanse itself, right?

 

Can't buy a handgun at 18, either.
