I hated them quite a bit during the post-Deng years when Coach K apparently thought he was a good enough coach to eschew athletes, throw out the white wash, and remain elite. And their tournament performances in the subsequent five years just warmed my heart.

But then I just couldn't hate Nolan Smith. In fact, I couldn't bring myself to not like him. He really softened me to the program generally. Austin Rivers and his punchable face allowed me to begin disliking them again, and that Arizona beatdown was quite a hoot. But then he left, and now we've got Jabari Parker who, like Nolan Smith, I just kinda like. So I can't really say I hate this year's Duke team.

 

Duke hasn't been annoying since Redick and Sheldon Williams.

 

Everyone but the Vols annoys me.

A friend of mine named his kid after Nolan Smith.

Almost. I was a 9 year-old little girl when "the shot" happened. I ran our of my grandparents house and sat in the car crying. I ended up crying for a few hours that night, I was heartbroken
