Tennessee Should be Number One In the Country

    If the coaches hamstring your team with horrible play calls, then even with a talent mismatch, you will not be able to move the ball. Unless the mismatch is so egregious that it doesn't matter what the coaches call (UT vs North Texas this weekend, for instance).

    But when the talent is just "better", then coaching decisions really come into play.

    Our RBs cannot, by design, get free without the defense worrying about the QB running. Jones usually cuts back on that with the lead. Dobbs is also crazy inaccurate, and relies on the defense focusing on his feet in order to get guys wide open enough for completions. So yeah, going ultra conservative is really rough on our offense.

    Against the Kentuckys of college football, sure Butch looks great.

    the Arky game saw us again go into to our shell with a lead. We ran like 4 different plays for the remainder of that game. It was actually a repeat of OU, but Arky climbed all over the direction we were running much sooner.
