Obviously we want to win first and foremost. But many different teams across college football have success in many different ways. I'm no genius but whoever ends up being the coach, at minimum they should place an emphasis on recruiting on the DL and OL, our hallmark needs to be that you come to Neyland, you're not going to run the ball, you're not going to have time to pass, and you're going to see a lot of physicality from our offense. Big dumb bruising football. But that's just me, what do you guys think is the identity best suited for us to be winning?

Dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Tennessee's quarterbacks have clean jerseys, opposing qbs leave on a stretcher

You may win, but we are going to beat you.

Butch recruited a ton of highly rated OL and DL, just didn't get anyone to coach them or a strength coach to make them SEC level.

    Yes OL/DL rules the game.

    Everything else is just fluff.

I just want coaches that opposing fans don't spend hard earned money printing up t shirts begging us to keep them... coaches that don't have us running to the keyboard to commiserate about how dumb their decision making/clock management is...

Apart from Kiffin, when is the last time we were universally sad to see a coach move on?

  11. Well, arguably Fulmer? I wasn’t, but a lot were.

I hated he stayed past his expiration date

I wasnt sad about Kiffrat. I was mad.

I was very sad when Fulmer was fired. I supported the firing at the time. In hindsight I doubt we ever would have fallen as far as we have if we kept him and dare say we would have won the SECe the previous two years instead of horse teeth.

  14. Yeah, that’s pretty much me as well. It was time, but I hated that it came to firing him.

I don't care about identity. Spread, pro style, west coast, whatever.

Be good at what you do. Win the trenches. Win games.

I would have loved for thst 06 team to have beaten UF and LSU and Phil retire then. Cutcliffe takes the handoff and coaches another 10 years at a high level.

You look at Phil’s records against the coaches that comprised the SEC in 2008 and there is no way to justify keeping him.

He should have been let go after the 2005 season

Yep, dominate the line of scrimmage and everything else tends to work itself out.
