TX State Senator Wendy Davis

Just became a Democratic fundraising juggernaut.

She had been going since 11 AM, but had been charged with 3 points of order (3 strikes, she's out). Now fellow Democrats are trying to delay til midnight with parliamentary BS. I'm intrigued.

So you aren't allowed to filibuster in Texas? Seems like that was a go-to move in Congress for the past decade.

I assumed the black senator was a democrat, which is admittedly a racist and shameful knee-jerk assumption. But I was right.

The audio is out because the mics are dead at the moment. When folks are speaking, you'll hear it. I think the dems have cited some sort of procedural error that was made to try and get this thing voted on tonight, and now the Republicans are seeing if they can find a way to correct it in time. This is just speculation from what I heard while watching the live feed awhile ago.

 

Is it because they don't want us to make fun of them?

That's ok. I'm working on the assumption that every geriatric white man angrily gesturing with his hands and mumbling incoherently are Republicans.

 

I think someone raised an inquiry, put his mic down, went back to talk and someone else had taken the floor. Pretty sure that's what has spurred this hour long appeal orgy.

Because he admitted fault by assuming she was something she might not be simply due to her race?

 

Because it is profiling, and profiling assumes that, at least statistically, certain races are better at not getting caught speeding than others.

 

Looks like the Republicans are going to ram this through like a 10 inch ultrasound probe.
