It's never legit. There are what half a dozen at best proven winning head coaches at a time? This theory that you can only fire someone if you have someone that is clearly better in the wings is just stupidity.

 

I can't see Arkansas getting better than Bielema. Maybe they luck out and there aren't many big schools with openings out there and they land Chip Kelly. That or they go after damaged goods like they did with Petrino.

I just don't think Arkansas will ever be that good. The only times they've ever really had success the rest of the West was way down. Even during the Petrino years, they were stuck at third in their division.

 

Houston nutt had a better record and I don't think anyone thinks he's great. Yeah the west was down, but bielema has some shit losses in there too. I think he's a good coach, but sooner or later you have to roll the dice and try to be better. As I've argued many times with my fanbase, is 4-8 really that much worse than 6-6 or 7-5 and some shit bowl game and no chance of winning something meaningful?

 

That's probably the heart of the divide in fan bases. For some, it is much worse. For others, it isn't.

Bielema was a BCS bowl level coach. You'd expect him to come in and win. Kind of like with us and Serrano. I don't think you give him a lifetime contract or anything, but it has to be pretty damn disheartening that a guy like that can't get it done at your school. It's a way different situation than with Butch. Butch was a guy you had to Google.

 

I just want to win something meaningful once in my lifetime. If that means firing coaches quickly and then the next guy is worse I'm willing to take that chance. I'll never understand being happy going to dec 22nd bowl games even if your program sucks.

 

I freely admit I was a big fan before, but given what Wisconsin has done before and after him maybe his success was primarily due to the Wisconsin system. In particular when it comes to player development and evaluation. I.e. Give him last year's vols team and he probably wins 10 games minimum, but if he has to build it on his own maybe he can't do it .

 

I haven't followed the Razorbacks really closely, but he's had a few really impressive wins to go along with his awful losses. Not sure what the deal is.

 

Yeah, same here. I have no reason to despise them or any other school worse than Bama, and because of that I want any school, including AU, to beat Bama every time they face off.

 

I want Auburn and Alabama to be sucked into a giant black hole and permanently wiped off the face of the Earth.

You are what your record says you are. Malzahn has an offense that puts up video game numbers and, barring one season, is a solid 7-5 SEC coach.

Butch sucks at everything and turns in 7-5 seasons.
