In 1997 the first QB off the board with Jim Drukenmiller with the 26th pick. A QB was not selected in the second round. With the #1 pick the Rams took Orlando Pace. Wuerffel was the 2nd QB picked by the Saints in the 4th round with pick 99.

This may be true. I'm actually convinced that Cut and Fulmer's attempts to make him Ty Detmer in '97 hurt his Heisman chances and hindered the teams success.

See my post above. If we have an offensive approach in '97 that is similar to what we did in '95, we moonwalk through the regular season. They were trying too hard to win the Heisman and at times it hurt us badly. There are crucial times throughout that season where we scraped by the skin of our teeth when we clearly had no problems lining up and whipping defenses at the point of attack. Following Nebraska, Tennessee was easily the second best team in the country that season with Michigan/Florida State fighting over a distant 3rd.
