That's something people have forgotten about Dabo. Clemson fans were furious with him until year three when they finally started knocking SoCar around. Of course he had to rearrange his staff a few times before they got to be the machine that they are.
All of those years run together. It feels like yesterday that I caught awkward stares at their spring game following my mild suggestion that maybe Jaime Harper wasn't the second coming of Herschel Walker.
Boyd probably would have transferred after Kiffin left. Remember, Boyd had both legs worked on immediately following the All American game and sat out atleast a year.
Yeah, it sucks Tennessee didn't get him, but, at the time, I can see why Tennessee didn't take him. They needed a QB now, not a guy that needed new ACLs that wasn't exactly what you wanted. And Bryce Petty, the other QB, had to greyshirt at Baylor. He wasn't some known stud QB. It just so happened Boyd turned Clemson around and Petty finally got a chance to shine under Briles
Clemson has been recruiting lights out for a long time now. They were going to find a good QB regardless of what Boyd did. Boyd or Petty would have come here and sucked just like a lot of talented QBs we had during that era.
