Wouldn't it be something if the O's performance was legit and how they will play for the rest of the season, and the D just had an off game? I'd take it.
Probably should have doubled that output against them today. Looked to have an actual identity and a plan offensively, which is an improvement. Still have a loooong way to go.
An offense can play well and not score more than 14 points. We have taken significant strides forward on the offensive side of the ball. Fix the mental errors and execute better on a couple plays, and it's double that, maybe more.
This is where I am. I was hoping to see the D play solid, didnt expect them to completely shut them down, but hoped to see some promise, but we just looked bad in every phase of the game on D. I really dont know what to expect from that side of the ball moving forward. Coming away from the game I expected to still doubt whether JG can get it done, and expected the OL to be a surprise, but the opposite happened in both of those. The OL did seem to start playing better once we started getting in to a rhythm, but how much of that is how bad WVUs defense is? I think JG can get it done so long as we pass protect.
Receiving group looked pretty good to me. I think Vols need to take more shots downfield, but am guessing the relatively conservative playcalling was designed to control possession and keep WVUs offense on the sideline.
