This is no time for such baseless optimism.

 

He's saying that they did announce it - the hiring and firing - in one announcement.

 

I don't really see an issue with just having the implied firing once you announce the new guy. You can't do that with a coordinator position but here I think it's fine.

 

Is that bad? Maybe I'm confused. I don't seem to find an issue with the way it was announced/handled.
