The vfl stuff was great marketing by him.

I dunno. It's the one shrewd thing he's done here. Knew that most of the fan base would be gullible enough to tolerate his failure if he'd just embrace the orange better than Kiffin did.

I can appreciate the survival strategy in that.

Yep, and it bought him goodwill for another year with a lot of the fans.

"Look Ma, they're talking about those Orange pants on ESPN, WOOHOO!!!!! They love them some Dooley"... or something along those lines.

Edited to add: I would MUCH rather see a ****ing segment on ESPN on how we're dominating the conference, not on the orange pants!

Tennessee doesn't make mistakes. Period. Ever.

Therefore Dooley is not a mistake. We just aren't experts in judging talent. So leave it to the experts that don't make mistakes or rash hires.

I think a lot of people do think he's nice, because they don't pay much attention beyond the surface.

Everyone understood we would need some time to rebuild. Some haven't figured out that Dooley hasn't started building yet and it's halfway through year three. Time to cut our losses and hire a new construction crew.

It's the vollygirl syndrome. Their life sucks away from Tenn football so why shouldn't Tenn football suck too? It's not their fault their life sucks (according to them), so why is it dooley's fault Tenn sucks? We have a generation of losers justifying away their failures and this is what you get. Not to get Mitt Romney on all of you. . .

    What?

Her husband is a porn star and her kids work with her.

I think you are completely off base with your assessment.

People try to defend Dooley, because he comes across as a Southerner to them. That doesn't mean you can coach football though.

Any one was going to get the benefit of the doubt after Kiffin.

I apologize. "Fans care too much about wins and losses." "Fans having expectations is the problem." Words to live by. Words to live by.

Yeah, and I think that's where I was early in that, and then after the UK game last year I realized we hired a really bad HC. The guy has basically hired an entire new staff, since his first one, after his second year. If you can't keep most of your staff in tact each year, something is definitely a miss.

I still can't believe this was posted. There's not many things that render me speechless. That comment did.
