It's just a key. The gamble is whether Microsoft will ever nuke the key due to too many activations. But I've gotten Visual Studio Pro x2 and Server 2019 keys, and they work well. And when they stop working, another couple of dollars will get them back.
Yeah I know but I just like knowing my Windows is legit. When torrents were in it's hayday, I felt like a kid in a candystore. I love some "found" software.
A lot of it is "legit," just ... not as legit. They are typically bulk licenses sold to businesses to cover all their licensing needs. And you're just... adding on to the business license. And I download ISOs from Microsoft's website, not torrents.
That's basically what's going on with this sale. From the article "Mediamart, is able to secure great discounts by going directly to software vendors and publishers, buying licenses in bulk, and then working with safe, secure brands (like PCWorld) to sell the software directly to consumers." But like you said, the keys you get off ebay may be used on multiple activations and I'd just rather eliminate the hassle, albeit a small one, of having to get a new key.
