Lin seems like the kind of person who couldn't give a shit about something like this. I agree that on the surface, it's in poor taste, but I doubt it was done with any malice. ESPN's apology was certainly well done.
I don't think it was intentionally done. Im more shocked it made it through edit with no one catching it.
