Josh Hargis, a U.S. Army Ranger with the 3rd Ranger Battalion, was wounded last week in an attack in the Panjwai district of Afghanistan that left four other members of his team dead. This photo and a letter from his commander was sent to his wife Taylor. Taylor Hargis posted the note and photo of her husband raising his right arm in salute as he was awarded a Purple Heart. The post has been shared nearly 4,000 times on Facebook. Hargis, a Cincinnati native, has been transferred to a hospital in Germany, then to San Antonio, Texas, for treatment, WLWT reports.
Sad, sad story. While the courage on display on inspiring, the teammates he lost are a sad reminder of the ROE we employ and the Afghan nationals embedded with us who give every advantage in the world to the dickholes we're after.
Saw this the other day. Tragic story. They thought that he was asleep and then he raises his hand in salute. Godspeed to this young man in his recovery. Thoughts and prayers for him, his family, those lost and their families.
With BPV. These stories make me mad as much as anything, that we are putting men in these situations. A lot of his fellows aren't able to salute.
One of the damned worst things about war is it is our finest that sacrifice their bodies and lives while some spoiled, unappreciative politicians are jerking us around over their pay.
