    Back then they ran all the finishers for the full 500 miles if the entrants wished to do so. Some yahoo drove for several hours after the first cars finished resulting in the rule of all cars stopping at the 500 mile mark.

    Somewhat odd fact:

    My oldest son was born on July 23, 2005. 4 years later on his birthday was Buehrle's perfect game.

    I was born on April 21. On 4/21/12 Phil Humber pitched a most unlikely perfect game.

    Willie T Ribbs was that African-American driver. Met him at a Trans-Am race at Mid-Ohio. Interestingly all Andrettis finished in top 10, Jeff was least heralded and won Rookie
    of the year.
