cape san blas. I can’t do condos or rows of umbrellas anymore so we started coming here. Quiet. I set up tent in morn then come back later and won’t be anybody within 20 yards. Dogs just lay on cool sand and sleep tied down with 15 foot leashes so they can roam a little. Stay across from one of the only bars where I can have a couple drinks and take food back. Very low key. I bring 3 tshirts and couple shorts.
I stay at different places. Didn’t this time but like to stay on the bay with another family and have a dock for fishing and kayaking or boat rental for bay fishing. Use Airbnb.
Meet sand in stomach and intestines. First time he’s eaten sand. People had left peanuts and shells. Scary situation for a few hours.
Could he just not eat sand? I remember a westie that ate walnuts that would obstruct him. Did it 3 times. 3 different surgeries to remove them. Was wild.
yeah but he looked pitiful. Took him to vet in port st Joe when he wouldn’t walk up steps. They put 200ml of fluid in him, in his skin. Don’t know if you’ve seen that before but it absorbs over hours and he had skin/fluid bags all over him. Wouldn’t move. Then next day, back to himself. Wasn’t enough to get impacted
I wish it was as simple and telling him to just not eat sand… He’s been to the beach probably 20 times and never done it before. Found a patch of peanut shells he was getting after and didn’t see him do it till he’d had a few bites.
My lab is at the end and it's sad. It takes him awhile to get up and going and he's lost a lot of muscle in his hips.
