One of my favorite moments of my kids growing up was when my daughter realized the awards were just what you mentioned. She didn't get that part really, but she understood her "superlative" award was nothing but BS that meant she didn't make honor roll that year. She was crying as she wadded up the certificate telling us that she didn't deserve an award for not accomplishing anything. I think she was in 4th grade at the time, maybe 5th.

 

It's fun, the kids enjoy it, and they are proud of themselves. Not going to say I didn't have a good time and laugh at the kids program.

At the same time, my wife, who is about as level-headed as a woman gets, started beating herself up because she forgot to send in pictures for the slideshow. My daughter didn't know or care. She got to sing and dance, and at the end got a cookie shaped like a diploma. I'll let you guess what the girl was most excited about.

 

That's fantastic.

The math awards ceremony for the son is more of an expectation met for me as opposed to something I've overly-proud of him achieving. I was, however, proud of how fast he got to the goal, and how self-driven he's already become academically

 

That people accept turning existing roads into tolls boggles my mind.

The only toll I'll gladly pay is the one on HHI that lets you get from the entrance to the island to Sea Pines in about 1/10 the time as opposed to driving around the island.

 

I actually like driving around the island for some insane reason.

 

You need to seek help, immediately.

In laws are up for the weekend. Brought a pail of jambalaya from one of the local places in Baton Rouge. Diet is taking a 3 day hiatus.

In related news, I'd be dead by 50 if I lived there.

I'm on 3 weeks now. Its been tough.

 

I’m at a can a day. Going to try to go to half a can a day and see if I can pull back on the reins.
