Asked Alexa to tell me a dirty joke today. This is what I received:

What do you call a skid mark that doesn't go away?

    Undeterred.

But great you're doing it while young. It'll be worth it.

I let it sit there a few years. Trying to do better. It doesn’t do much for you if you don’t build it

Starting to look at college stuff again. Son has a 4.0 and 25 on first ACT, which may not get him in UT. We looked at FSU. Had no idea. Avg act is 31 and 4.3 gpa. So he’s going to apply to UT after trying ACT a couple more times. UT, App st, Louisville and WKU. Think App st would be cool if UT doesn’t work out. After lacrosse recruiting started, he’s had over 40 invites to visit D2/D3 schools but has decided not to play in college. Wish he would but it’s a lot of work and I get just wanting to go to college as a reg student.
Any advice on good majors for kids good at math/science is appreciated. Somehow mixing sports in would be cool.

The advice I gave my kids on a major:

Pick any liberal art major, something you enjoy and can learn a wide area of things in. Unless you are going to be a handful of professions (engineer, mathematician, etc) you don't need a specific degree. Just don't think you have to get a job in the degree you take.

And dont be afraid to be undeclared to start

Still a little time to get that ACT up. Nowadays most people do classes/tutor prep for these standardized tests, that is why the average is so high.

You can't really go wrong with a computer science major right now. Or some type of data science degree.

And the days of any liberal arts degree working out reliably are over. They're only slightly better than no degree and less than having gone into a field 4 years earlier

My 9 year old is on the robotics team at school. He told me they're building Legos.

We're at the robotics competition, they built a working lego machine that flips levers, works gears and pushes buttons. They wrote code and used gps mapping to lay out the obstacle course.

The little shit is apparently a whiz at this stuff...I ask him and he shrugs
