    Right, which is how affirmative action came about. Whites were a protected class for almost 200 years.

    I think schools should make an effort to help out poorer students in the admissions process if possible

    No, it is pretty clear folks here don't think white people had it a little easier and better than other people for most of our nation's history.

    I think that's a fine idea, and as long as it's race-neutral then constitutionally speaking it's kool and the gang.

    That is part of our nation's history, and because of that history we have the 14th amendment, which states, among other things: the State must treat whitey and darkey the same.

    Was the 14th amendment a bad idea?
