No. The current system encourages conferences like the SEC to make mid to late season upsets of the top teams not happen. It is a clear conflict of interest to have 4 spots with 5 power conferences and puts pressure to make sure someone makes it. We would be better off with making the playoffs require conference champions, and guarantee the 5 P5 conference champs a spot with 1 nonpower 5 champion chosen and two at large bids. This would be the optimum sort of setup to remove any incentive to pave the way for an Alabama or Ohio State. Without this, enjoy the officiating.
