We are perfectly set up to shut down their offense—at least as much as we shut down anyone. I am…not convinced by Milton yet.
In 2003 we went 10-2, lost to UGA and a middling Auburn team that finished 8-4. We played Clemson in the Peach Bowl while we were ranked in the top 10(we got hosed on the bowl selection, IMO). We got beat 27-14, and the foundation of the late 90's run started to crumble. We beat Clemson in the bowl, and maybe we re-enter yearly relevance for the next decade? We also beat Vandy 48-0 that year, the last time we had a conference shutout.
It's nearly identical to the stuff that drove us batty last year. Hell he even replicated one of his Pitt throws by missing the PA to the wide open TE.
I agree. I'm pessimistic. Just not completely ready to close the book on him. Give him a month of practice and let's see what he looks like in balmy weather.
I didn’t get to watch any of this game, but I assume Milton still has terrible footwork. He just stands flat footed and it causes his accuracy issues. He’s too damn gifted physically for that to be happening.
#1 in sec in passing yards, total yards by 60/game and total points. Set another scoring record I believe for the program. https://www.secsports.com/statistics/football/team/total/totalPointsPerGame
how disgusting was that vanderbilt team? they should get kicked into the OVC. what in the actual hell were they trying to do on offense? the concept of malpractice was offended by that. what the hell were they doing on defense in the second half? how in the actual hell did florida and kentucky lose to that outfit?
I think Lea is a really good coach and he's getting the best from an incredibly untalented roster. The outfit he inherited was really bad even for Vanderbilt standards.
I mostly agree, but I still think Wright over Swann in this game was malpractice. You have to have your best passer out there against our defense. You can’t wildcat your way to a win. We’re too good against the run.
