I would, but I am more pragmatic than most people as far left as me. That said, I also don't pretend to understand how your typical American leftist thinks, because they are by and large whiny little [itch bay]es on the left that are the antithesis to the hardcore MAGA whiny little [itch bay]es on the right. He would be pretty much dead center in British Parliament I think.
Some do, but he is a democratic socialist. Which, believe it or not, is not as far left as a leftist as they describe themselves.
Honestly at this point it’s become somewhat of a pejorative term because of the way it’s thrown around
Honestly, the American system is not set up for those sitting solidly on the left or right side of the spectrum. It certainly isn't for the left and takes very specific circumstances for those on the right to operate. The design, a two party dominant system, establishes folks sitting on or near the center, to a varying degree. The one thing we have done is avoid an authoritarian rule. We've resisted the Orbans, Putins, and Xis of the world really well.
Seems like that kind of thing is used for the tail to wag the dog. Like, you are an xyz so therefore your opinion on issue 5287 is "blah."
I've just accepted that outside of local school board, my views probably make me unelectable because I can't stand there and spout off stuff I know is a lie. I still may run for that at some point. I volunteered to join the Federal Tax Committee with the state CPA society in hopes that that will scratch my political bug.
