The thing is, people DON'T want to talk about unemployment or Benghazi or immigration or anything else. They want gossip. They want their lives to have some vicarious meaning by associating with one star or another. Otherwise every TV station would be a C-Span clone.
"Why tell people what they need to hear? We should just tell them what they want to hear" - Anchorman 2
This is only moderately true in reality. For those who posted in the comments section below the article, I'd say it nears the entirety of that group. It's rife with idiocy.
I don't believe it is moderately true at all. I believe a large bulk of the human race falls squarely in the "don't know, don't care" part of the spectrum. Just how they deal with the day to day drudgery.
Maybe so. I just tune such out and let my mind drift when someone tries to start a conversation about any celebrity gossip. It's usually an automatic channel change if it's on television at home.
Phil at it again: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...remarks-in-videotaped-sermon/?intcmp=features “Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God,” Robertson said, paraphrasing a verse from Corinthians in the Bible
Phil has every right to express his views. However, everyone else has a right to express what they think of those views, especially his employers. I don't have 100% agreement with Phil on the matter for the record.
Honestly, we all know his views. He still has a sizeable fan base that agrees with him, so I guess it doesn't matter.
People now just want a soundbite thinking it will generate clicks or views. Hell, he's not even saying anything he didn't say a year ago.
