I'm honestly tired of hearing about Kiffin.

 

Therein lies the rub...since when is is ever a good idea to bend to the will or opinion of your fan base, especially ours?

 

i always thought it was amusing that so many people hate kiffin more than the guy (guys?) who REALLY destroyed the program

 

The fact that Kiffin said there was no merit to Ed O calling EE's since he had not hired anyone is BS (meaning Ed O was not on his staff yet). Ed knew he had the job at USC, it was just not made public yet. Good play on words by Kiffin but it still pisses me off.

 

It's hard to hate Fulmer if you look at the entirety of his work. It's easy to name all his faults. Most on here can do so easily, but he got to the top. He may have ridden a great coordinator and superior talent to that place, but he did it. Not every coach can manage that.

He should have stepped down years sooner. Hamilton was never going to show him the door. Phil's biggest fault ultimately was sticking around and chasing Neyland. If he had hung it up ten years sooner, he'd be legendary.

 

I've typed and erased about 8 seperate replies to this post but it's not worth me getting worked up over.

You can ignore the fact he was the driving force behind the hiring of Mike Hamilton and the subsequent athletics holocaust?

 

I'd likely agree with you. For that matter, things could be even worse today if he left after 98 instead of 08.

 

I don't think another scenario exists where [ddiapos] winds up as our HC.

 

I was thinking Fulmer as AD somewhere in the mid 00's, but I doubt he makes that hire.

 

What would you like for me to do about it now, 5 years later?
