I hope he goes on to do well and even if he does, I still feel that way. Stop acting like a damn Conference USA team and let coaches get their on-the-job training elsewhere.
If Butch had had the same year by year W-L as Fuente, I would have been a lot more optimistic when we hired him. I'm not saying Fuente is a good hire. We can and should do better. But his resume and upside are qualitatively better than these last 2 clowns.
I keep seeing Chip Kelly thrown out there as a dream candidate, but in the back of my mind I seem to remember something about NCAA problems and him being generally not a terrific human being. Did I make that up?
The NCAA is an illegal cartel which is in its death throes. And I don't care if Chip Kelly is an ******* as long as he's not a wife beater, murderer, or some other kind of psychopath. Nick Saban is the hugest douchebag there is and he seems to do alright.
If we can do better - and we can - then we should. And if we can and should, then Fuente's name doesn't deserve mention.
It's not that hard. 1. Gruden. 2. Kelly. There is no third option. Make it happen or continue to be a joke.
I realize that Schiano going to the NFL is the main reason you want him, and I think I'd be happy with it, but he didn't win anything at Rutgers. Of course it is Rutgers.
You know what, screw it, let's bring in Dino Babers, throw the ball 70 times a game and play no defense. #GBMFO
He took Rutgers to their first bowl game since 1978. He won the first bowl game in Rutgers history. His going to Tampa doesn't change my mind on him being a top notch coach. He built Rutgers from nothing and made them relevant.
