Wow, this is a really big loss. He was a highly intelligent and polarizing justice. I often disagreed with him, but also respected the man.

That really sucks. Didn't always agree with everything but he was the best at writing his opinion and backing it up.

 

Throws a new wrinkle into the election.

 

Yes, this will be the last great political battle for Obama. A liberal president replacing a conservative iconic justice on a Supreme Court that is, essentially, 50-50, right now.

 

Can/will the Republicans keep it alive that long?

 

The thought is that Congress would stall until the new President could appoint?

 

One more nail in the coffin for America as we know it.

 

They're gonna find a way. Bet on it.

Frankly, if he wants to help his party, he should air towards the moderate. This is especially true if Bernie continues a strong showing

Letting Obama appoint another member would be damn near criminal. His appointments are as ideologically left as any ever. Hell, Kagan was essentially a politician prior.
