Made a rookie mistake, a doe and a big 8 were in the field. I never saw this little guy get in between them, had one small window to shoot through. I popped him then watched the bigger one walk by. Oh well
Buddy just bought 100+ acres in Illinois, purely for deer hunting. He’s had cameras up for 2-3 weeks now, and already has over 3k pictures - and several bucks bigger than I’ve ever seen (not that this is any standard). I think we’re going to go up and see if I can get one this year.
In a small club in SC now that’s about 900 acres and about 750 of it is planted fields. There are fingers of woods that create some structure for hunting but for someone whose hunted woods their whole life it’s an adjustment.
Careful, here...this is how people disappear. He’s moving a tractor up there to cut trails / roads in and he’s now thinking about what kind of structure to build or have assembled on the land to stay in when he’s up there. As of Saturday, he’s looking at erecting an 800 sq/ft metal building on a monolithic slab. You might be too valuable to ever be allowed to leave. He says that he drives to Nashville and goes straight up, so you’re right on the way.
To anyone who can introduce me to some serious bear hunters, preferably with dogs, I’ll let you pick Indy’s avatar for the rest of the year.
Y’all use Thermacells? I never have before but I just bought one because between this heat and the hurricane the mosquitoes are awful. I know if I can smell it a deer can too but I don’t know if people think it deters deer or not.
