Best thing to come from this ia not having to shake hands or hig. First, its gross. And giving the rock was "unprofessional". Now the air elbow is here to stay.

That'd be nice. It could also be that even "open" things are mostly like they were closed.

We've been "open" in some fashion in Tennessee for most of May, and neither I nor my wife's works have reported back to the office, and our kid's daycare is closed until mid June.

If that is pretty common, then there isn't much difference now between open and closed, so there wouldn't be a spike.

Burn it down for the good of the world. Think of the children. Think of the elders. Think. Burn it down.

Could also be that the level of participation in "the rules" is so high, the virus is stifled.

Compliments on calling it “China Flu”.

Bonus points if you call it “Chy-Na Flu” going forward.

But this is genuinely a helpful graph, and I appreciate it.

I first read this was happening in at least four states late last week. As long as we are doing a bad job of really keeping up with recoveries, adding in AB test results is a bad idea as it skews active cases. Surely they add it immediately as both a total case and a recovered case. However, we tend to just watch the slope of total cases do that becomes an issue. Virginia basically said they were doing it because in order to be ranked well in testing you have to test more and this allows them to do that. It’s a dumb notion and just another indication of how little good direction there is here. I can’t believe the CDC is also doing it. AB tests do not help you respond to outbreak clusters so not sure why adding that into capacity is helpful at all other than to make the number look higher.

I'm not justifying it, but if we didn't have an inflated testing number, our peer countries for tests per pop would be Peru or Kazakhstan. So that is probably why they feel the need to pool them.

actually it seems to be a pretty discriminating viral pandemic as certain ethnic and age groups are hit harder. I see your point though.
