I’m in wait and see mode. I think we hired a real football coach for the first time since Kiffin. Those who think he’s not smart may find out otherwise. We will have to wait and see on that but I have seen him sound thoughtful. He is certainly someone who has his own opinions and doesn’t babble coaching catch phrases. The thing I am worried about most with him is NCAA compliance.

 

If he wears an orange tie at the presser, I'm all in.

I want to point out that I predicted this would be the day of the hire over 2 months ago.

 

Don't think I like that. He's not a loser like the rest of the staff, but I'd prefer complete turnover.

 

I'm pretty sure I said something to the effect of getting a new coach in five years the day Butch was hired, and it's exactly five years later, so I'll also accept congratulations.

 

That would definitely indicate that he gets it. Getting it is the most important part.

 

The fact that this debate has legs is proof enough that we are once again hiring and hoping someone will turn out to be a good HC, when other schools are hiring HCs with track records. Even Arkansas.

 

Hell, he obviously give a damn.

 

So we went from two guys that loved their hair, then one that buzz cut it to one who loves Kojak.

 

Very positive that he doesn’t need a headset.
