He is as good as it gets as a DC. He is as good as it gets in recruiting. He will have to have a very good staff but those two things alone are a major plus.
And two of those were under Saban, who always has a top tier defense. At some point, it's about the head guy and the system, not the coordinators. As for recruiting, he was recruiting to Alabama, FSU, and UGA. Not exactly tough places to pull in top talent.
It looks like he's specialized in DBs his whole career, and then he got to Alabama, and now he's LBs? DBs are friggen Alabama's specialty. What does it say that your life's work is shit on an unarguably amazing defensive team? I ask again.. what is this based on?
So his entire career is based on his ability to put his whole career in someone else's hands? Yea, that isn't rocket science. You don't do that.
And fielded elite defenses every year. You want a guy with 10 years DC experience? At what point is it enough?
