Because he's a hell of a coach

 

It's really disheartening that when Alabama wants a coach, they get their guy... when Georgia wants a coach, they get their guy... when Florida wants a coach, they (as often as not) get their guy.... when Tennessee wants a coach, we get Botch. Or Dooley...


We suck.

 

Schiano has a losing record, too.

 

Please actually look at the state of both programs he took over. It takes time to build crap programs up. He set them both up for sustained success. His record would be much better if he just chose to hang around either job longer.

He put together a very good staff at Oregon too.

 

As near as I can tell UF has gotten their guy every search dating back to Spurrier.

 

No more band directors or coaches with losing records.

I'd take Les Miles over more than half the names mentioned so far.

 

Schiano’s claims to fame are being .500 against Butch Jones and tying for second in the Big East.

Also he is well known to be a control freak asshole.

 

Zook was definitely not their guy. They settled for him.

 

I forget. Was thinking it was some stupid thing where Spurrier pretty much named his replacement.

 

I think they made a big effort to lure Mike Shanahan from the Broncos at the time, but he turned them down.

There was another guy or two before they ended up with Zook, but following a legend is a tough assignment. That’s what gives me hope about Bama in a couple of years.

 

Florida has failed in 3 of their last 4 hires.

Alabama hired Franchione, who bailed, Price, who never coached a game and Shula before Saban.

UGA hasn't won shit, but Kirby may change that

 

I don't want Schiano. We aren't Rutgers. Or shouldn't be.

Yeah, I mean we've had three tries and whiffed on all three. If Kiffin had hung around, he might have been successful. Who knows. Seems like you have to be willing to cut bait after a coach's third year or so if he's not proving himself.

He was at Rutgers 11 years. He only played 22 ranked teams. He lost to 18 of them.

His tenth year he played zero ranked teams. He went 4-8.
