Who is she trying to impress by use of the word "colonial" in this context? I may get it, you may get it, a few others may get it but it seems to be an attempt to be intellectually cute, trying to use "cauliflower" and "colonial" in her example. I assume some will spend hours discussing her subtle and witty use of the English language, while others will bemoan being equated with cauliflower.

I never would have imagined. I often make spontaneous analogies or illustrations when speaking. I guess we have to all be vigilant of words like cauliflower and colonialism, lest the cultural kin of a cauliflower-colored colonist crumple and cry at the cruel contempt created by conversations about community cultivation.
