Me either. That article says that there's a lot of wear on the .40 models. They'll have to do something to address that if they go that direction.
Agreed or it's cousin the 10mm. Keep in mind that NATO is full of Europeans and their screwed up measurement system.
I don't know why they went away from it. If it ain't broke... I have a model 1911 .45 & it's freaking awesome. I do like the .357 Desert Eagle too. Can't afford one, but I like it.
9mm ammo is also cheaper, lighter and the magazine was double stacked to hold 15 rounds (M9) vs the 7 of the 1911. So if the idea is that the target must be engaged multiple times, 15 rounds allows for multiple targets to be engaged multiple times, whereas the 1911 would require at least 1 reload, depending on situation and such. Now that we have advanced to double stacked .40 cal and .45, it is time to make the move back.
XD-45 fullsize has a 10+1 and the compact has a 13+1 capacity. That said, I've shot them both and found they kick like a mule. My wife, who has shot my M&P 40 and my 9 (and can handle both well) struggled to consistently reset her aim after each shot. They're ~10oz less than a 1911, which I have a 1970 Gov't model of.
i laughed. seriously though, somethings merit killing, whilst others merit getting blown all to shit. i.e. snakes.
