At least this wasn't a blowout.

He still should have caught it, but that was PI all the way.

We don't see the progress and/or understand the plays.

Starting to see lots of similarities between Butch and Dooley. Last night was so reminiscent of the 2011 Alabama game. Hang tight for a half defense plays solid. Then come out in the 2nd and get our doors blown off. It sucks to admit it, but we only slightly upgraded. It's exactly what everybody thought it was going to be, but the recruiting and USC win last year had everybody hoping he was different. He isn't.

Still think this is an overreaction. We are still the youngest team in the country. We still lack depth at some key positions. We still have major talent deficiencies at some key positions (including arguably the most important one on the offense). There are still other possible answers for why shit like last night happened aside from "Butch is the next Dooley."

The fact of the matter is, Butch has been recruiting kids for the future. He's telling them "we aren't good now, but we will be great in a couple of years," and they seem to be eating that shit up, as can be seen by the recruiting. I don't care how bad of a coach he is. If we keep pulling in classes as talented as this last one for the next couple years, we will be able to compete with anyone. If at some point during that span of time he wises up and finds an OC who is worth a shit, we might actually be a pretty dang good football team.

And even if he never wins big here, at least the next guy won't start with an empty cupboard.

If he doesn't start winning next year, the turnaround story won't sell to recruits anymore.

Will he keep recruiting top 10 classes when everyone realizes he can't coach his way out of a pop warner peewee game at the local Y? We have the talent to win right now, we should be 6-1 or at worse 5-2.

Agreed on the last point. However, his refusal/inability to adjust is a damning indictment. See how long the recruiting success lasts if it's not followed by on the field success.

    Bingo.

I didn't get to say that on the cruise. Tried, but didn't win.

I'd like everyone here to let this marinate for a minute, we will not win another game this season.

We are still not on the same level as the rest of the SEC from a talent perspective. Plain and simple. Once we get to that level, our coaching ineptitude will be hidden a little bit by it. Enough to pull out a few more wins next year and keep the recruiting train rolling.

Bajkidkwhatimdoing still needs to go for butch to win big here.

Heck, even if we had just beaten Florida and were showing improvement on a week to week basis, I'd still be in wait and see mode. As it is, we get worse by the week and look anything but well-coached. Given the current trajectory, the Kentucky and Missouri games won't even be close.

This is Butch's offense, the offensive coordinator doesn't really matter.

RockyHill Loves Auburn more than Tennessee.

More specifically, Butch needs to forget his offense ever existed, hire the best OC that will come, and pray that's enough for him to succeed.
