The only mitigator is that he was trying to encourage and fire up a group of 20 year olds. And probably most of them in that room besides the legacies don't really know any better. It was a preposterous thing to say, but I think the one thing Butch did do this past week --which probably kept him from losing the team and consequently his job- was go extremely positive. The players played hard today. Not sure if that was for Butch or themselves, but I think Butch is right to keep patting them on the back. They need it.

 

It's the type of win that can turn the corner for a program. That's about it, and that will only be known in hindsight.

 

Or any of the natty titles, but I understand those being of limited importance to botch.
