Not exactly but it does highlight why shutdowns are stupid.

Head coaches of Tennessee are government employees who we pay all the damn time to not work.

    All the time.

They don't deserve shit either. Also washing Saban's balls is work.

Hiring freeze? Check usajobs.gov. There may be one, but it's hard to tell.

That dude actually took a job. Others just went home. (Fulmer).

Also, make better hiring decisions, and own the failures, rather than passing the buck in the blame game.

I know of one agency with the green light to hire. But they’re also considered essential and are under staffed.

    1. It's the Daily Caller
    2. There is no name to it
    3. Senior officials do not all have a clear idea of how all the biscuits are made, or why. If this really is one and he thinks all the furloughed workers serve no purpose, he will be in for a rude awakening if he gets his wish. And that will come in many forms, including several legal ones. Many things are done because there are laws mandating certain procedures, regulations, etc. They can be ignored right up until they go to court and the rule of law is asserted. Sometimes I wonder if the "deregulation" folks are really just drumming up money for the lawyers.
    4. "Few Americans will notice" is not a compelling argument. Few Americans notice a lot of things. Few Americans would notice anything so long as the tv is on.

I am not sure what a strong military has to do with internal political and social instability.

To the best of my knowledge, federal workers are not unfirable. You just have to be able to document why. If there is no "why," then no you can't go on a political house cleaning every election to reshape everything.

Which is the whole bogus point. If you don’t want to expand drilling rights into national wildlife preserves, you are a Democrat obstructionist and we should be able to replace you.

It’s the only first and last lines that ultimately matter, and make all else possible.
