Leaders from both sides cheating/gaming the system with minimal accountability have encouraged alot of regular folks to do the same.

It's the age old "Well, they did it."

it’s more of a prediction. Where there is smoke there is fire has been pretty consistent in my 5 decades of living.

im not blaming Biden. He was likely shielded from most of the overspending as people around him took advantage of their situations. Corruption has been a political epidemic for a long time.
I was saying I wished Biden had dug up some things and addressed because they wouldn’t be pawned off as no big deal or made up info. Everybody would be pissed instead of just “republicans”.

Damn, I missed the news that the Prez proclaimed that we have a "Gulf of America Day".

Google already has it on their maps. I had hoped we'd simply ignore some of the dumber stuff he does and avoid some of the silliness, so I'm a little surprised at some of the acquiescence this second term thus far. Here we have the dumbness of an international search engine, the #1 one, renaming an international body of water which exactly one country in the world recognizes.

It's harmless, but dumb. But, again, the pandering to Trump's whims are much more prevalent thus far than in his first go around. Should have seen this when all the tech bros lined up in MAGA supplication.

Usually this is country-specific. It probably only has that name if you are accessing from the United states

I did not know this. I will look for Malvinas on any future trip to Buenos Aires. Still, I'm calling it the Gulf of Mexico.

I didn’t say you were blaming Biden. I just said that these issues are usually a part of a bigger problem that our legislators refuse to address. I just have a healthy skepticism of it all. Unfortunately, Trump doesn’t have a history of being any more fiscally conservative than the previous administration. We shall see.

To be fair to everyone, nothing about what musk is doing is very orderly.

I was just addressing whoever was reading as things get turned into something they aren’t quite often.
The rest of your post is right on.

media and social media are 2 of the main culprits as to why discussions go bad because nobody trusts any of them and we have to question the truth regarding anything they say.
I don’t think anybody here intentionally posts misleading or straight bs, then tries to argue behind it.

We’ve been discussing this in various sectors.

im towards the end of a new implant launch. We have 20 years of EU data and 12,000 cases. FDA launches shit products with 1/5 of the data but those companies paid and let the fda in their drs offices to run their patient studies for 3 years. You know which drs allow the fda in their offices for 3 years? The shittiest. Most good ones, who will do their own studies and publish, want no part of govt in their office.
When discussing price, our consulting company suggested we charge 35% more to the VA to counter the discounts which would be forced by the HCAs of the world.
I told him we wouldn’t be doing that and spent a bit explaining to the CEO in the UK how it wouldn’t cut it with me and the other 2 US guys agreed. We’ve seen companies and reps do it for years and both seem to disappear after gaining shit reputations.
Sorry for the rant but there are those in every sector of business who find a way to take advantage and gouge the govt.
It would take me and a team of mini Smiffs a couple of days to set pricing caps within the VA system based on category and codes already available. You companies are at this price or you aren’t coming in. I’d save them billions and not kidding.

Also doesn't seem great that he uses his huge platform to lie about and politicize everything and so many people believe whatever he says anyway. I realize politicians do this all the time, but people treat him as something different.

(I am thinking of TOS when I say this, not posters here)

He tweets hundreds of times a day so I'm sure he's said something that isn't a lie, but most of it is right wing conspiracy bullshit and even his "updates" on DOGE are intentionally misleading. Computer science people seem to agree that his manufactured scandal/fraud about SSNs not being de-duplicated was also stupid

What if you see no evidence of smoke other than one guy saying "hey there's smoke, but I'm saving you from the fire. I'm actually so busy saving you (and tweeting) that I can't show you evidence of the smoke or the fire"
