It seems like they've figured out it was a staffing issue and not a space one, and they're addressing it

Fl0at brought up questions about staffing a while back. It’s a fair question .... beds aren’t enough obviously.

A couple of members of the wife's family have it. Sister and her husband, they say they don't feel good. One of her other sisters is almost in a panic because she thinks they're going to die.

Edit, they said they wouldn't have even went to the Dr if it wasn't on the news so much. Luckily they don't seem to have it as bad as some people.

Most Americans won't be much bothered by this thing.

That's because only about 33% will get it, even running wide ass open and unchecked.

Of those 33%, 90% won't even need hospitalization.

Of the 10% that needs hospitalizations, somewhere between .04-.06 will die.

These are very small percentages, but very big numbers. But for most people, this will just be a very tiring, coughy, bug, that wouldn't be noticed if not for it being novel.

    But... 33% of 300,000,000 is 99,000,000. 10% of 99,000,000 is 9,900,000. .04% of 9,900,000 is 396,000

    (4% of 9,900,000, not 0.04%)

float more Americans will be affected by the pandemic mentally and financially, which then will lead to further problems down the road, than will be physically affected by covid imo

Except that would have been true of the 1918 pandemic as well, in which 600,000+ died, businesses were shut down, masks were required...

And oh, the roaring 20s followed.

    So history disagrees with you.

comparing anything in 2020 to 1918 is kinda silly. Govt didn't give out millions of free cash to people back then to not go to work. It was a different world.

Right, people had less money to spend, and the economy still grew. Now they have more money to spend... and the economy will _____________ ?

You will have, I don't know what the psychological term is, but effectively "survivor's glee." All 40 million or whatever Americans who have been stuck at home, scared, etc, will realize, we survived, and its going to be a party. Money will be spent left and right, restaurants will be maxed out crowded. Sports venues will be full to the brim.

People will be happy they survived, and will spend because of it.

Hell, the clothes alone people are going to have to buy because they ate themselves a size up, is going to be sizeable.

IIRC in his Netflix special he took a hard left turn from science experiments to social/political stuff.

Not saying he doesn't have every right to do that, just that it's a little less about the cool science stuff for him now.
