These comments make me think of two angles here...

Cowherd and Clay Travis seem to be pretty good friends and go on each others shows regularly. Clay has been on the fire Butch, hire Kelly train for a minute now. Maybe this is a byproduct of their conversations and Cowherd exposure.

The other thought is that this is Kelly's doing. Feldman has already thrown out that there are programs who are now considering firing their coaches if they can get CK. Cowherd is a West Coast guy. If Kelly has interest in a job like TN, a big program that should soon open, why not use the like of Cowherd to float out the idea.
