I don't think doctors are charging outrageous prices for the services offered. Lots and lots of other professions have way better profit margins.
That's going to be a shit ton of contingency pricing. What if there's a complication and you end up staying 2 weeks instead of overnight?
They can be, absolutely. And you can find some cash only docs that will do just that, and a good many of them are pretty good at what they do. You can probably figure out what the reimbursement for whatever you think you need will be, based on who your insurance company is, but what good, do you propose, knowing that cost, will do you? Are you really going to bargain shop your wife's mastectomy?
