I shovel mine full of sweet feed (ground corn and molasses). They love it, and it really puts on the weight. Mo money. Mo money. Mo money.

    Too bad.

A headless chicken running around is quality entertainment.

How'd I miss this thread before? I must have been on my cruise.

I am against corporate farmers that rape the land, drive up prices, suck off the gov't teat and run the little guy out of business.

I'm actually against any corporation that has these qualities.

I graze and raise my own corn for silage/sweet feed.

I've done a few, don't care to do it again. One was helping a neighbor after thethe cow was dying after being hit by a car.

I had to saw up a dead calf that was too big for the cow to birth while it was still inside the cow using only 2 key rings and what was basically piano wire. Nasty bidness right there.

    Cow lived though.

It's a great thread. I was out of the country when it was "farm fresh".

Leaving it on the stock and letting the cows harvest it in the field is a cheap way of feeding grain. Plus it puts organic matter and nitrogen back into the soil too, which cuts your fertilizer inputs.

Having a place to let it age is a challenge to home processing.

It takes governmental protection to let the corporations to operate that way.

I just want an even playing field. Selling raw milk or farm processed meat to direct consumers shouldn't be illegal

Blowing a strutting turkey's head completely off and it runs around almost in full strut is terrifying the first time you see it
