In fact, I generally just think post-1991 James Cameron kind blows

 

I never saw Avatar, but Titanic was a really good movie.

I'm a junky, I try to see almost any remotely scifi movie that I can.

 

I think those that saw it saw it 4-5 times.

 

I think it had a ton of appeal at the time because of the effects, just nothing that lasted. At one point I felt like I was the only person who didn't see it.

 

only once in theaters, twice overall. I liked it but didn't love it.

 

It was the first movie to use 3D correctly i.e. subtleties with depth, not in your face, and it was visually stunning. The story itself required about 30 seconds of thought before Cameron called it done.

I'm really not sure how you do a 2 or a 3, but Hollywood is extremely adept at creating shitty trilogies.

 

It was worth sitting through 3 hours or whatever just for the dude hitting the propeller

 

Move over NYY.

 

It's a movie about comics characters, so I'm not trying to be condemning. Still, the Endgame time travel plot with the stones has all the subtlety and complexity of the time travel aspects of Bill & Ted.

 

Iron Man II - check

Through Winter Solider now. Good movie.
