Didn't realize you weren't American, Voldad.

Or is this a listening comprehension issue?

In my world "the Government belongs to me". Didn't realize that you had become a possession of the Government.

They're crazy. Do we need to start a revolution?

No need. It will take care of itself in November.

Are you under the government's jurisdiction? Are you a voting-able citizen? Can you join a US party or hold office? Describe for me what documents other nations must review before allowing you foreign travel.

You are part of the government. This is highschool civics stuff. Saying we are all part of it in that context was obviously saying we are all Americans. Keep checking for socialist bogeymen under tour bed, though. It's funny.

Being a "part of" and "belonging to" are 2 different things . That is elementary school english stuff.

I definitely belong to the Government. To say regular civilians do is something else entirely, and, imo, totally wrong.

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing Government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it. - Abraham Lincoln

I guess Mr. Lincoln had it wrong

I took that in a "belong to a club" sort of way, not "belong to a person" sort of way.

Not saying anything about this exact quote, but Lincoln is one of the most misunderstood Presidents in history, imo. Outside of being anti-slavery, he was no great champion of African-Americans having equal rights. Had he been spared the assassin's bullet, the world would have a much different view of him.

As a matter of fact, I find it amusing that "The Party of Lincoln" looks nothing like Lincoln who was a staunch advocate of the supremacy of the federal gov't, and it's absolute power over states' rights. He trampled individual liberties with federal power. He was a moderate that wrestled power away from the radicals of his party to make it a more widely appealing and inclusive party. In fact, while he would have listened to the radical element of today's Tea Party, he would outright reject their ultra-conservatism that leads to nothing but gridlock probably telling them to go to hell.. Lincoln believed in negotiation, even with the opposite party to get things done. Negotiations between two vastly different groups allowed to draft our Constitution. Without debate and compromise, it never passes. His suggestion to actually work with Democrats today would last as long as a fart in a tornado.

Ignoring the fact that PGT Beauregard fired the first shots at Major Robert Anderson's command at Fort Sumpter, Lincoln did have one thing in common with our recent crop of Republican political leaders: he wasn't very shy or reluctant to resort to the, "blow the shit out of them" solution of going to war.

I believe the government is supposed to belong to us not vice-versa. This seems to be a horrible political slogan, IMO.

He must have, since he forced the Confederacy back into the Union.

Seriously, you are making a straw man by deliberately misinterpreting what was said. It's lame.

It is truly sad that you and many others are unable to use context to correctly comprehend English.

What is the problem here? An extremely awful choice of words leads to an unintentional insight into Democratic policy.

Willful ignorance. Can't wait until the glorious Utopia that is conservative leadership returns.

It's a horrible slogan. I dont believe that Dems believe we are all slaves to the government, but it's an absolutely pathetic choice of words.

We'll probably just go ahead and burn all the libraries and schools to the ground since we're a bunch of know-nothing dumb****s that fear math and science.

Slaves? Didn't see that one, Law.

It wasn't the smartest thing to say, but you're reaching.
