Didn't watch the Cards/Dodgers game. Was the strike zone as bad as what everyone is saying this morning?
Probably worse, both ways. I let out random laughs at the absurdity of it at times. 9th inning, Kemp struck out looking on a pitch that hit the exact same spot as the pitch before it. Now, I thought both were strikes (honestly), but it was that bad.
The deadspin video makes a guy think that many Cards fans also root for the Boston Bruins. Amazing how folks so eagerly act like jackasses on video knowing that it'll be made available for public consumption
Honestly, all the underdogs won the respective series. Side note: I'm trying to remember but I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher throw a wild pitch on an intentional walk. What the hell?
It is not as uncommon as you think, which is why I really don't like the idea of a pitchless intentional walk. They never throw that way, and sometimes it gets in their head and they just bork the pitch. It is hilarious when it happens.
But I think even more important is the at bat after the IW. Often times the pitcher's rhythm is now off and he walks another guy or gives up a hit. Could be my confirmation bias on that, but I just don't like walking someone without pitching to them. Just seems to go against the game.
One of the things I do love about MLB radio and the studio shows this time of year is that they get a lot deeper into the game than they can April-September. Pretty cool stuff they are bringing up just talking about at bats and such.
