Try to work out a game against another team from UAB's schedule or schedule a game against an FCS team that is looking for a payday? Not sure if the second option would work, since we already play Western Carolina.
LT 77 Victor Salako - 6-6, 324, So. Started all 12 games. Probably their best OL. He would be a better LT than what we are putting on the field now at LT. but thats not saying much. I know, not much help.
MTSU and several Sun Belt teams have not finalized their schedule. Saw Memphis as potential as well. Not sure anyone over there is willing to make that gamble right now though. Playing MTSU in Nashville makes the most sense to me.
That would be awesome, actually. Keeps the money instate, should be an easy win and gets us a game out in the midstate. Book it, Danno.
Only issue is they play Bama the 12th. Don't know if they would want to go back to back like that. In a quick skim, legitimate potential teams that are currently off Sept 5 - East Carolina Memphis MTSU La Tech Bowling Green Now, stuff can be done with teams that already have games schedules I am sure, these are just the easiest ones. And I'm assuming UT wants to keep this game in Nashville, for multiple reasons.
Saw Hyams tweet someone inside program said we'd try to replace with one of UAB's nonconference teams. Makes sense, but I'd still go for MTSU first, makes too much sense.
If we have to fear Memphis, that proves Botch Jones and his staff will never win anything meaningful here.
If he really said that either he is an idiot or Butch is throwing away next year also. We can only count one fcs team towards bowl eligibility.
Could we play at least one OOC in-state school every year? It would be worth trying to keep more of that money in the state, especially to state schools (I don't know if there is a possible in-state OOC opponent that is a private school). Memphis, MTSU, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, Tennessee Tech... Anyone else?
