Mexican truck is first in delayed NAFTA program

    honestly, as a truck driver, I'd be more worried about driving into the interior of Mexico.

    just looked at the truck in the linked article, it's an almost brand-new Freightliner Cascadia, which is hardly a death trap.

    It may not be representative of every Mexican truck, but there are some pretty shitty trucks being driven by American drivers.

    I think the safety concerns are being overblown, my main concern is the potential of a drop in both industry pay and freight rates

    Canadian drivers can't do that, so I don't think Mexican drivers will be able to, either.

    I think I would refuse any trips going into Mexico.

    I'm going to assume its the same for US drivers going into Canada, deliver and either leave empty, or pick up a load with a US destination.

    Canadian customs can be a [itch bay], so I can't imagine what coming out of Mexico with a commercial vehicle is like.
